Burn rate and runway calculator

Burn rate is how much cash you lose each month; runway is how many months your cash lasts at that rate. Enter what you already track. Figures are in USD and stay in this tab.

How to calculate cash burn rate

gross burn = total monthly spending
net burn = gross burn − monthly revenue
runway = cash ÷ net burn

Example: you spend $580 a month and earn $250. Gross burn is $580, net burn is $330, and $4,000 of cash lasts about 12.1 months.

Gross burn or net burn?

Gross burn tells you what it costs to keep everything running. Net burn tells you how fast your cash actually falls, so runway uses net burn. If revenue is higher than spending, net burn is zero and the cash is not being used up.
